How To Live Like a Celebrity American Idol Style!

Whether or not we admit it, all of us wishes we were famous to some degree. Unfortunately, very few of us make it out there. Just because you’re not on the radio or walking down the red carpet for a movie premiere doesn’t mean you can’t experience some of the glam. Whenever you are looking to escape real life and be a celebrity for a day, check out this column and prepare to transform into your alter-ego. (You know, the famous one!)

In this debut article I want to help you actually make your dreams come true! Can you sing??? (Or at least think you can?) Well, get on a plane or into the car and head to Disney’s Hollywood Studios (formally MGM Studios) and sign up for the American Idol Experience. All our favorite Idols gathered on February 14th to celebrate the opening to the theme park’s newest and most exciting attraction. It works similar to the show you watch every week on TV, but with MUCH better odds.

Approximately 400 people audition every day to be a contestant. (You can sign up at Hollywood Studios, however, I recommend doing so online: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/hollywood-studios/attractions/american-idol/experience/ )

Be prepared to sing – any song you can rock – and head over to the sound stage where you will audition in front of a producer.

Made it?? YES! You will be escorted to a room with comfy chairs, where, after being provided with an iPod, you will have to choose a song to sing for the next-level producer! This is the moment of truth. If you can pass this round you are well on your way to making it big!

Once you receive the thumbs up, the real fun begins. Get back into the theme park and start promoting yourself before your return to the studio. After being primped, rehearsing with a vocal coach and recording your intro video, you and two other contestants will take the American Idol Experience stage (a replica of the Hollywood Stage) to battle it out for a spot in the finale show.

Almost there – only one more hill to climb. Outshine the other contestants at the finale show and you will receive a golden ticket to bypass the stadium/arena audition for the next season of American Idol!!! (You must meet certain criteria which you can find at the previously mentioned website.)
