Vee.eye.es.tee.oh.es.oh have the whole world screaming out Vistoso!
The talented ladies of Vistoso Bosses are still in high school – but they’ve already done a collaboration with Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em on their latest single, “Delirious” and have an album, entitled Confetti due out at the end of 2009. Made up of Kelci, 16, and Taylah P., 17, the vivacious duo was destined for success. As cousins – though they consider themselves sisters – the two grew up immersed in music.
“Everyone in our family does music,” explained Taylah. “They produce or they write or they sing or they rap or they play an instrument or something. Our moms are actually in a group together, so it’s a natural thing for us. It’s what we’ve always wanted to do.”
Like many artists today, the twosome was discovered through the internet. Their homemade videos for their songs “Delirious” and “Boy Crazy” flooded MySpace and became instant successes on YouTube; with over half a million page views, Vistoso Bosses has been awarded the MySpace artist of the week.
Their wide fan-base, funky music, and undeniable talent caught the eye of songwriter, producer, and CEO of Collipark Records, Michael “Mr. Collipark” Crooms. He quickly signed the two and Vistoso Bosses became the first female artists on the record label.
“It always feels good to be the first at anything,” said Taylah. “It’s great that we got chosen out of all the people who’ve been trying for so long…. It’s just an incredible feeling.”
Their music is a fusion of fun, bubbly pop tunes with smooth, infectious hip-hop beats. It coincides with their name, Vistoso Bosses, which also reflects who they are; in Spanish, vistoso means bright or colorful.
“To us, [our name] means just being ourselves and creating our own look,” Kelci explained. To create their look, the two mix patterned or vividly-colored clothes with bright make-up, and a plethora of accessories.
Taylah said, “Vistoso is a way of life for us. It’s not just our name; it’s the way we act. We have our own language so that ties everything in to how we act. We are vistoso. We’re colorful, we’re bright and so are our personalities.”
Obsessed with fashion, make-up, and taking photos, Taylah and Kelci can clearly relate to girls their age; they’re using music to pursue those interests, as well as a medium for encouraging young women to love themselves the way they are. They’ve created a sorority called Ultimate Young Ladies, or UYL, just for their fans.
“We’re interested in being role models, just by being ourselves,” said Kelci. “We want to show that you don’t have to follow anybody, you can just be yourself.”
Fame would provide Vistoso Bosses with the opportunity to pursue these passions; with music as a stepping stone, the duo yearns for a life of glitz and glamour.
“Being in the spotlight is going to be the best thing. I love attention, Kelci loves attention. Being out in the world, people seeing us, and being known, would just be a great feeling,” said Taylah.
Kelci continued, “We hope to be successful and go to the top. We want to be superstars.”
